Lake Harris has several public launch and shore-access options around Astatula, Tavares, and Leesburg. This guide brings together official planning resources while keeping public ramps separate from Hide-A-Way Harbor’s guest amenities.
Verify before towing: FWC says its Public Boat Ramp Finder uses the most current information supplied to the agency, but closures are not reported there in real time. Check the managing agency for current ramp status, hours, fees, parking, water level, construction, and vessel fit immediately before your trip.
Public access points to research
The list below is a trip-planning starting point, not a promise that a ramp is open or suitable today. Addresses come from official FWC, Lake County, or municipal sources. Enter the exact facility name and address in your map, then confirm the result with the operator.
Astatula Boat Ramp
Officially listed address: 12703 Florida Avenue, Astatula, Florida 34705.
Lake County identifies this facility as an access point for Little Lake Harris and the Lake Harris Blueway Run. The county’s park inventory lists both a boat ramp and canoe launch. Confirm current parking capacity, launch condition, operating rules, and the route from the ramp to your intended water before arrival.
Hickory Point Recreational Facility
Officially listed address: 27341 State Road 19, Tavares, Florida 32778.
Lake County describes Hickory Point as a large public waterfront facility on Little Lake Harris. County materials identify 12 boat ramps and parking for vehicles and boat trailers. County meeting records say reconstruction of all 12 ramps received a certificate of occupancy in December 2024, followed by a ribbon-cutting in February 2025. That history does not prove current conditions, so check the facility before each trip.
Singletary Park
Officially listed address: 1902 South 14th Street, Leesburg, Florida 34748.
FWC lists a Lake Harris fishing pier at Singletary Park, and Lake County’s Harris Chain map identifies the park as an entry point on the Lake Harris Run. Verify the exact launch location, parking, current hours, after-hours retrieval rules, and any event-related limits with the City of Leesburg.
Venetian Gardens and the Leesburg waterfront
FWC pier listing: Venetian Gardens Park, 109 East Dixie Avenue, Leesburg, Florida 34748.
FWC lists Venetian Gardens as a Lake Harris shore-fishing location, and Lake County’s Harris Chain map identifies Venetian Gardens as an entry point on the Lake Harris Run. Waterfront facilities, marina services, ramps, and fishing areas can have different entrances and rules, so confirm exactly which facility you intend to use with the City of Leesburg.
Other nearby access records
Lake County’s parks inventory also lists McDonald Canal Boat Ramp at 24600 County Road 448A in Astatula. Because a canal ramp’s water route and condition can differ from a direct lake launch, verify the current connection, clearance, water level, parking, and vessel suitability before choosing it.

How to compare Lake Harris boat ramps
Ramp and vessel fit
- Number and width of lanes.
- Ramp material, grade, depth, and current condition.
- Dock or courtesy-dock availability.
- Fit for the boat, trailer, tow vehicle, and driver experience.
- Current water level, vegetation, marked projects, and navigational limits.
Parking and operating rules
- Trailer-parking capacity and overflow restrictions.

- Launch, parking, or day-use fees and accepted payment methods.
- Restrooms, lighting, accessibility features, and shore access.
- Event, tournament, maintenance, or construction impacts.
Route and weather
- A towing route that avoids unverified shortcuts and accounts for the complete rig.
- Wind, lightning, visibility, heat, and severe-weather forecasts.
- Fuel, safety equipment, communication, and a backup ramp.
- The water route from the launch to your destination, including canals or locks.
Public ramps are not Hide-A-Way Harbor amenities
The ramps above are public facilities managed by government agencies. Hide-A-Way Harbor is a private RV and home-site property in Astatula. A public launch does not create access to the park, and an RV-site reservation does not automatically include a public-ramp service or a private boat slip.
Eligible park guests should review the current Lake Harris amenities and boating and fishing guide, then confirm boat-slip availability, vessel fit, trailer parking, storage, and arrival instructions with staff. Do not arrive with a boat based on an old price, photo, or third-party directory listing.
Travelers who still need a place to stay can compare short-term RV sites on Lake Harris. A site and any boat-related arrangement must each be confirmed through the current approved process.
Boat-ramp day checklist
- Confirm the facility name, address, manager, status, and hours.
- Check the forecast and official waterway notices.
- Confirm any license, registration, boater-education, and safety-equipment requirements.
- Inspect the boat, trailer, tires, lights, tie-downs, drain plug, and required gear.
- Prepare payment for any verified fee without assuming cash or cards are accepted.
- Use the staging area for preparation rather than blocking the active ramp.
- Observe posted speed, parking, wake, cleaning, and wildlife rules.
- Have a backup launch and a safe decision point for canceling the trip.
Lake Harris public-access questions
Which Lake Harris ramp is best?
There is no universal best ramp. The right choice depends on current status, vessel and trailer fit, parking, route, weather, water destination, and the operator’s rules.
Does the FWC ramp finder show live closures?
No. FWC states that closures are not reported in real time. Confirm current status with local authorities.
Can anyone use a Hide-A-Way Harbor boat slip?
Use the park’s current approved amenities information and ask staff. Private guest eligibility, availability, vessel fit, and terms are separate from public-ramp access.
